Silly pumpkin!!! On his third Halloween, at two ye Silly pumpkin!!! On his third Halloween, at two years of age, he still wasn’t able to talk. He trailed behind his brother, who would say trick or treat for both of them. Every now and then an adult would ask him to say “trick or treat”, or “thank you”. He would get a bit sad or confused, perceiving that he had done something wrong, as we scrambled to explain that he is deaf and hadn’t learn how to talk yet. On this, his eight Halloween Eve, he was able to explain to his dad which were the exact words he needed to google to get a carving Pikachu stencil.
Tomorrow, when you are giving candy away or Trick or Treating, and you see a boy or girl who acts differently, who doesn’t talk, who doesn’t do what you expect, who is older than the other kids, remember my silly pumpkin. Try not to judge. Be kind. Be generous. Try to make this a celebration inclusive to all, so parents of special needs children can stop dreading and fearing it. Happy Halloween, everyone! 🎃🎃🎃#halloween #adifferenthalloween #specialneeds #specialneedshalloween #pumpkin #bekind #realabrecipient #cochlearimplant #deaf
Today, I voted in my first presidential election. Today, I voted in my first presidential election. Since I became a US citizen in 2017, I have voted in every single election that has been held, as I do in Spain when the ballots arrive on time. But today felt different. It felt solemn, and it felt important, and it felt exciting. But, above all, if felt damn plain good to cast my vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. I shed a couple of tears good. 🇺🇸👍🗳
🇺🇸👍🗳 #vote #election2020 #bidenharris2020 #myfirstpresidentialelection #immigrant #ivoted🇺🇸 #ivoted #nestinginchicago
I don’t normally like to post photos of myself, I don’t normally like to post photos of myself, but it was Sunday, and I had gotten dressed, I was in the park, it is Fall and my 13 year old took the photo. The best parto of our walk? Running into another Spanish family that I knew through Instagram.
